In the STAND UP project<\/a>, educators from six countries search the USHMM archive<\/a> for testimonies previously unused in education. Based on them, ready-to-use lesson plans are created, and video clips are published on YouTube. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In this example, German teachers selected part of the testimony of German Sinto Harry Franz. He describes the incredible survival story of his artistic family, who fled Nazi persecution while traveling through Germany, Italy, Yugoslavia, and Romania. Their rescue depended on daring acts of ingenuity – from a film actress who \u201crecognized\u201d them at the Italian border, to their mother, who distracted guards with charm while their father quietly pulled the wagon across the line. Despite the arrest of relatives, witnessing the deportation of Jews in Bucharest, and dangers from the Usta\u0161a, the family survived by pretending to be part of the KDF-B\u00fchne propaganda troupe. Franz called it a miracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
