The topic of the sprint was both highly important and demanding: how to connect and make visible sites of non-commemoration — places connected to histories of violence, the Holocaust, and suffering that today remain insufficiently marked, forgotten, marginalised, or left in silence.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this process. It was exceptionally motivating and intellectually stimulating to spend a week in discussion with such an interdisciplinary group of people. Historians, educators, experts in memory culture, digital technologies, design, museology, and public history brought different experiences, knowledge, and perspectives. It was precisely this diversity that made it possible to approach complex issues not from a single professional standpoint, but from several interconnected angles.

What I found particularly important was that our work did not begin with technology as a ready-made solution. We first discussed the problem, the context, the users, and social responsibility. Only after that did we open the question of digital tools, educational products, and possible forms of public presentation. I consider such an approach especially important when dealing with sensitive historical topics and sites of memory.

During the sprint, we reflected on how to bring closer to young people, teachers, and the wider public those places that are not sufficiently present in public space. How can we make them visible without oversimplifying them? How can we avoid the mere digitalisation of memory and instead create a meaningful educational experience? How can we connect local history, critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and contemporary digital formats?

The result of this work is not a final product, but the beginning of a promising development process. We outlined the first contours of a new educational product that still needs to be further researched, tested, refined, and adapted to real users. For that reason, I do not see this week as a completed activity, but rather as the starting point of an important journey.

At a time when history is often simplified, instrumentalised, or silenced, processes like this are particularly valuable. They show that digital memory culture can be much more than technology. It can become a space for encounter, learning, questioning, and responsible engagement with the past.

I would like to thank the organisers and all participants for their trust, the exchange of ideas, and the collaborative work. I look forward to the continued development of this promising educational concept.

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the first
