Comparison of the Presentation of Heritage Topics in History Textbooks for Primary School

The article compares how heritage topics are presented in Croatian primary school history textbooks under different curricula. It examines shifts between the older and newer curriculums in terms of the prominence given to cultural heritage, defining it as both tangible and intangible sources of history that foster historical analysis skills.

The study highlights how the new curriculum, part of the “School for Life” project, includes updated heritage themes designed to support national identity and cultural awareness. It discusses the role of textbooks and educational reforms in shaping students’ understanding of heritage in a broader socio-cultural context.
