Google Certified Educator

Google for Education Certified Educator Level 1 again

I don’t remember what year I successfully completed the Google Certified Educator exam for the first time, but there is a significant difference in the approach. Unlike the first test, when I literally had to prepare, this time the test was based only on experience and daily work with Google tools.

The Google for Education Certified Educator Level 1 certification is an internationally recognized certificate by which educators prove their basic knowledge and effective use of Google Workspace for Education tools in a digital environment. This certificate is not only a proof of technical skill, but a confirmation of the ability to integrate technology for the purpose of improving learning, encouraging collaboration and optimizing administrative processes.

The exam covers work in tools such as Google Classroom, Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, Slides, Sites and Meet. From 2026, the exam format includes a combination of multiple-choice questions and practical lab tasks (so-called performance-based labs) where candidates solve specific scenarios in a test environment in real time.

The focus is on pedagogy — how to use tools to personalize learning, provide faster feedback to students, organize course materials, and communicate securely online.
